Productivity

Projects fail too often; and failure rates are higher than statistics would indicate as unsuccessful initiatives are often hidden behind redefined outcomes. Agreements that result from negotiation between a requester and a performer are very different from task assignments. Accountability shifts to the performer only when the performer explicitly agrees to the outcome and due date. This shift, in turn, improves accurate status reporting and “surprises” surface earlier. Once the agreement is reached, both parties participate in a closed loop conversation that may involve progress reports, clarification or changes of expectations, encountered problems, dependencies on others, shifts in due date, actual delivery by the performer, and requester feedback.
